Strategic objectives comprise research on: prediction, optimization, learning, decision making, and control; big data and heterogeneous data; deep learning in industry; data-driven predictive analytics (e.g. soft sensors) and control in dynamic and time-varying systems; high dimensional variable selection; data-driven offline/online evolving design of interpretable models in systems and control; failure detection, fault tolerance and predictive maintenance; real-time architectures for closed-loop testing of cyber-physical systems in simulation and real-world; examples of application domains are industry, smart grids, electrical vehicles, and aerospace.
