Jorge Batista received the Lic. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, in 1986 and 1999, respectively. Prof. Batista is an Associate Professor with tenure at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Coimbra University, and a senior researcher of the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR-UC), where he is a member of the Computer Vision Group.
His research interests focus on a wide range of computer vision and pattern analysis related issues, including real-time vision, video surveillance, video analysis, non-rigid modeling, and facial analysis. More recently, his research activity also focus on the interplay of Differential Geometry in computer vision and pattern recognition problems.
Jorge Batista is the author/co-author of more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in the most prestigious journals and conferences in Computer and Robot Vision.
He has been involved on several national and European research projects, several of them as PI at UC.
