    Fernando J. T. E. Ferreira (SM’09) received the Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (IPC/ISEC), Coimbra, Portugal. Since 1998, he has been a Researcher in the Institute of Systems and Robotics, University of Coimbra (ISR-UC), working in the field of motors and drives. He has participated in several European projects dealing with energy-efficient motor technologies. He is the coauthor of more than 100 papers published in international journals and conference records and presented at meetings. Prof. Ferreira was a recipient of the Best Paper Award at the 2001 IEEE/IAS Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Technical Conference. He received the Seal of Excellence, Horizon 2020 - SME Instrument - Phase 2, Project "InSwitch".
