The Embalagem do Futuro (Packaging of the Future) project has been named a finalist in the 2026 Packaging Europe’s Sustainability Awards!
The project has been shortlisted in two categories — Thinking Big and Research & Development — recognizing its collaborative R&D initiative and the development of an innovative bio-polymer coating for food-contact corrugated cardboard.
By combining circular design, advanced materials, digitalization, and industrial transformation, the project is paving the way for a more sustainable future for the packaging industry.
As one of the 79 partners in this ambitious Portuguese R&D initiative, ISR-UC proudly congratulates the entire consortium for this outstanding achievement. The consortium brings together industry, research centers, startups, and universities, under the leadership of VANGEST, coordinated by NERLEI, and supported by INOVA+.
