As part of the celebrations marking the 254th anniversary of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), Dr. Aniana Cruz, a researcher at the ISR-UC, received an Honourable Mention in the Young Research Talent category.
Dr. Aniana Cruz conducts her research at ISR-UC, where she leads the UpReGain project and contributes to the BCI4ALL project, both focused on advancing brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies and their applications in healthcare.
The UpReGain – Gamified Brain-Machine Interfaces for Personalized Upper-Limb Post-Stroke Rehabilitation project aims to improve post-stroke motor rehabilitation through innovative approaches combining brain-computer interfaces, virtual reality and a robotic hand exoskeleton. The project seeks to develop and evaluate personalized rehabilitation strategies, while also exploring automated home-based rehabilitation and telerehabilitation solutions.
Dr. Aniana Cruz is also involved in BCI4ALL – Brain-Computer Interfaces for People in Locked-in State and with Disorders of Consciousness, an IC&DT project co-funded by the COMPETE 2030 and FCT, led by Gabriel Pires. The project aims to advance the development and application of brain-computer interfaces to support people with severe motor disabilities and disorders of consciousness.
