WOOD.SHAPE4.0 arose from the intention of promoting an endogenous product in a consolidated market segment. In this way, we will try to valorize wood sheets of pinus pinaster (Pinus pinaster, Ait.) Using the technology of wood shaping and overmoulding, aided by automated systems of computer vision and integration of RFID tags, with the aim of producing pieces with wood pine leaf and polymeric filling with high added value.
The pressing needs in WOOD.SHAPE4.0 come from the search for the valorization of a national product, the pine leaf, by the forestry industry and the demand of the automotive industrial sector for new products for more exclusive market segments, valuing the finishing of parts car interiors and the construction sector, looking for new products, with increasing environmental awareness and customization.
In this type of product, we intend to value the use of wood due to its low thermal conductivity and appealing visual aspect, constituting a product with high commercial value and a positive impact on the commercial balance. Thus, WOOD.SHAPE4.0 aims to develop new products with high added value, improving the characteristics and properties of the materials and processes involved.The Woodshape 4.0 project aims to enhance pine wood and create innovative products for the automotive industry by incorporating wood sheet into plastic molded parts
